Penn State Football Morning Briefing: Nittany Lions Arrive in Ireland, Three Players to Watch, and Other News

The majority of today’s Penn State news focuses on the fact that the Nittany Lions landed safely in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday morning. There’s plenty of coverage of the Nittany Lions’ transatlantic trip, as several Penn State news outlets have reporters traveling with the team in Dublin. Penn State had its first practice on Wednesday and is preparing to open the 2014 season against UCF in the Croke Park Classic.

Aside from the news in Ireland, big news came out on Wednesday related to the NCAA sanctions there are currently on the program. There’s word that the four-year bowl ban could be shortened to three years, meaning the Nittany Lions could play in a bowl game next season. Elsewhere, freshman wide receiver De’Andre Thompkins is profiled and three Penn State players to watch on Saturday are pointed out.
