Next up in our “Know Your Enemy” series, previewing the Penn State Nittany Lions’ opponents for the 2014 season, is the Temple Owls.

Temple University had a rough season last year finishing 2-10 overall and 1-7 in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls did end the season on a high note, defeating Memphis 41-21 to avoid a winless season in the AAC.

Temple fell in its first six contests, losing four of the six by at least nine points. The rest of the year didn’t go much better, as Temple sandwiched their two wins on the outside of another four-game losing streak.

It was certainly a rebuilding season for the Owls and they looked better towards the end of the season, losing back-to-back contests to Rutgers and UCF by just a field goal. Despite their two wins, Temple’s best performance was certainly in the UCF contest. Temple was able to gain 518 yards offensively against the Knights, but UCF overcame a fourth quarter deficit for the victory.

The Owls will come into Beaver Stadium on November 15th mixed in between conference match-ups with Memphis and Cincinnati.
