Penn State Football Morning Briefing: Nittany Lions not in Preseason Poll, Franklin's Secret to Recruiting Success, and Other News

Tuesday’s Penn State news is a bit on the light side as the Nittany Lions are in the middle of training camp for the 2014 season. With less than two weeks until the start of the season, the preseason Associated Press top-25 poll was released on Monday, and in what won’t be a surprise to many, Penn State did not make the poll.

That was to be expected with the Nittany Lions in sort of a rebuilding year and still dealing with depth issues due to NCAA sanctions. Elsewhere, two Penn State opponents, Michigan and Ohio State are previewed and PennLive looks at what makes James Franklin a successful recruiter.  Finally, there’s a profile of defensive coordinator Bob Shoop and Lions247 says defensive back Da’Quan Davis is ready for a rebound season in 2014.
