Monday’s Penn State news is a bit on the light side with no new on-field news other than the fact that the Nittany Lions are hard at work and ready to enter their second week of training camp for the 2014 season.

Although head coach James Franklin is preparing for the upcoming season, he’s still busy with recruiting. That was proven over the weekend when one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania, 4-star cornerback John Reid from Philadelphia, verbally committed to the Nittany Lions. Elsewhere, PennLive give a good wrap-up of Penn State’s first week of practice and Black Shoe Diaries wonders if former Nittany Lion linebacker Michael Mauti is a future NFL star. Finally, there’s an opponent preview of the Akron Zips.

Be sure to check out Twitter for pictures and videos from Penn State team photo day that took place on Sunday inside Beaver Stadium.
