The Penn State Nittany Lions have officially started training camp in preparation for the upcoming season. On Monday, as part of the first day of practice, the Penn State held Media Day.

It was an opportunity for media members to hear from head coach James Franklin and the rest of the coaching staff. Franklin was very candid at times and discussed several aspects of his team. Two popular subjects were super sophomore quarterback Christian Hackenberg and the lack of depth and experience on the offensive line.

Following Franklin, offensive coordinator John Donovan, special teams coordinator Charles Huff and defensive coordinator Bob Shoop. Those three assistant coaches each addressed different issues at their particular positions.

Players were also made available for interviews, where not surprisingly, Hackenberg attracted the most attention. The day ended with media members being able to watch the beginning of practice.

Walking away from Media Day I had several thoughts running through my head. The following slides highlight three takeaways from Penn State Media Day.
