Today we begin a series of slideshows that will highlight each team Penn State will be facing during the 2014 season. After completing the schedule, we will finish by profiling the reaming Big Ten teams that the Nittany Lions do not play this year.

The University of Central Florida or UCF, is coming off a remarkable 2013 campaign that saw them knock off some of the nation’s premier football programs…on the road!  They beat the likes of Penn State in Happy Valley and defeated the previously unblemished No. 8 Louisville Cardinals in their own backyard.

To top things off, the Knights capped their impressive season by outslugging offensive juggernaut Baylor Bears in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

The 2014 edition of the Knights face a tall task in repeating their 2013 performance, but one thing is for sure, they will certainly not be overlooked by anyone.  They will face Penn State in Dublin, Ireland on August 30 to open the season.  The game was originally billed as student (Bill O’Brien) vs. teacher (George O’Leary).  Former Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien was an assistant coach on the Georgia Tech sidelines under O’Leary.

No matter, this game will be an early test for both teams looking to get the 2014 campaign off to a solid start.

  • Head Coach - George O’Leary, 11th season at UCF (72-56) / 19th season overall (124-89)
  • Conference – American Athletic
  • 2013 Record12-1
  • Key Departures - QB Blake Bortles, RB Storm Johnson, WR Jeff Godfrey, DB Sean Maag, DL E.J. Dunston
