After two difficult, yet winning seasons under former head coach Bill O’Brien, the Penn State Nittany Lions and new head coach James Franklin will look to start a new era of Penn State Football. Although several key starters will return for the 2014 season, there are depth issues and inexperience that will have to be dealt with.

The Nittany Lions have one of the most inexperienced offensive lines in the nation and also face issues on the depth chart at linebacker.

It’s difficult to predict how things will go this year, as there is often an adjustment period when a new coaching staff takes over. However, for all of the question marks and depth chart issues, the Nittany Lions do have some returning players who will be very important and relied on heavily.

The following slides rank the five most important Nittany Lions for the upcoming season.
