The biggest bit of Penn State news broke yesterday when the university confirmed the retirement of athletic director Dave Joyner. Joyner, who was put into place in 2011 when former athletic director Tim Curley was put on administrative leave as part of the fallout from the Jerry Sandusky situation.

In other news, The Sporting News thinks that SEC coaches are “whining” over James Franklin’s involvement in satellite camps. Elsewhere, Black Shoe Diaries says there’s bad news for the Northwestern Wildcats when they face the Nittany Lions and University of Maryland head coach Randy Edsall talks trash to Franklin about recruiting.
