The Penn State staff continues to travel the country and check in on some of the top prospects in the Classes of 2015 and 2016. This past week a handful of prospects in the Class of 2016 picked up offers from the Nittany Lion staff.

Here is a look at the prospects who picked up an offer this past week:

Saivion Smith
Wide Receiver / Defensive Back
Class of 2016
St. Petersburg Lakewood (Florida)

Smith has been one of the hottest names in the Class of 2016 as he’s picked up nine offers in the month of May. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect picked up a Penn State offer this week to add to UCF, Clemson, Iowa State, Florida, Louisville, Nebraska, Ohio State and Kentucky.

Daelin Hayes
Running Back
Class of 2016
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (Michigan)

Daelin Hayes, the number two running back in the state of Michigan according to 247Sports, picked up a Penn State offer this past week.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound running back and linebacker is currently rated as a 4-star prospect and currently holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Hayes has already visited Penn State twice in the past including this year’s Spring Game.

Tavares Chase
Wide receiver
Class of 2016
Plant City High School (Florida)

Chase picked up his 19th scholarship offer this week when Penn State offered the 6-foot-2, 167-pound prospect.

Chase, who is currently rated as a 4-star prospect by 247Sports, is the number 37 athlete nationally. He currently holds offers from Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Last season Chase recorded 562 yards receiving on 28 catches, four of which were touchdowns.

Brandon Jones
Safety
Class of 2016
Nacogdoches (Texas)

Jones is one of the top safety prospects in the country as the 5-star is currently rated as the number 3 overall safety in the country by 247Sports. He picked up a trio of offers this week that included ones from Penn State, Ohio State and Stanford.


The 6-foot, 190-pound prospect had a monster year last year as he recorded 95 tackles and five interceptions as a sophomore. Jones is a very physical player who has great ball skills and has the speed and agility to stay with wide receivers.

Keith Gavin
Wide Receiver
Class of 2016
Wakulla High School (Florida)

Gavin is a 4-star prospect out of Crawfordville, Florida who holds a slew of offers from high-profile programs. He picked up a Nittany Lion offer earlier this week after Coach Josh Gattis visited the rising junior at his high school.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect currently holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Miami, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

He is considered a Florida State lean as he is on the record as saying that Florida State is his dream school.

Korey Charles
Safety
Class of 2016
North Florida Christian

Charles is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete who is projected as a safety at the next level. Currently ranked by 247Sports as the number 15 player in Florida and number 9 athlete nationally, picked up an offer this week from Penn State Coach Josh Gattis.

Gattis, who was making his rounds this week in the Sunshine State offered the 4-star prospect. Charles currently holds offers from Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Florida, and Wisconsin.
