Former Penn State defensive tackle DaQuan Jones was the first Nittany Lion defensive player to be selected in the 2014 NFL Draft. Jones was taken in round four as the No. 112 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans. Originally recruited as an offensive lineman, Jones became a dominant player on the defensive line as a two-year starter at Penn State, he’ll look to continue that success at the next level.
Like Allen Robinson and John Urschel, Jones was invited to take part in the NFL Combine back in February. There, he ran a 5.35 40-yard dash and put up 25 bench press reps.
While he doesn’t have the greatest speed, his size (six-foot-four, 322 pounds) and strength will make him attractive to a lot of NFL teams. He’s also not the best pass rusher, but has shown a true talent for stopping the run and can fit into several different schemes.
Jones finished his collegiate career with a strong showing in 2013. He recorded 44.5 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
He now joins the Titans and will look have a long and productive NFL career.
