Penn State Football Recruiting: Nittany Lions Land 4-Star DT Adam McLean


Even in the middle of spring practice, head coach James Franklin has still been working his magic as a recruiter. Just a few hours before the start of the Blue-White Game, the Nittany Lions picked up their 12 commitment for 2015. 4-star defensive tackle Adam McLean made his decision to attend Penn State known on Twitter.

McLean, from Bethesda, MD, is ranked by 247Sports as the top recruit from the state of Maryland. He’s also ranked as the 13th best player at his position. The talented defensive linemen comes in at No. 114 in the ESPN300 and is the seventh Penn State recruit ranked in the ESPN300.

Over the last two seasons in high school, he has recorded 109 tackles and 18 sacks. McLean was considering offers from top schools such as: Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Even before McLean’s decision, the Nittany Lions were considered by the major recruiting services as having one of the best classes for 2015. With the addition of McLean, the Nittany Lions jumped Texas A&M for the top recruiting class according to Scout.com and jumped Alabama for the #1 class according to 247Sports.com.

Currently, of the 12 commits the Nittany Lions have for 2015, nine are ranked as 4-star prospects. There is good balance in the group, with six recruits on the offensive side and six on defense.
