To say that James Franklin and the Penn State coaching staff is off to a great start in recruiting is a major understatement. The Nittany Lions are currently ranked in the top-5 by the major recruiting services. That ranking got a boost on Tuesday with the commitment of 4-Star wide receiver Brandon Polk from Virginia.
Polk was one of several recruits who visited Happy Valley over the weekend. He made another trip on Tuesday to let the coaching staff know of his decision.

He is a 4-star recruit and the No. 33 wide receiver overall according to 247Sports and had offers from Stanford, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Maryland to name a few. When Polk arrives at Penn State, he’ll join high school teammate, quarterback Trace McSorley, who is a member of Penn State’s 2014 recruiting class.
During his junior year in high school, Polk was a first-team all conference selection, catching 36 passes for 549 yards and five touchdowns. He showed versatility that will be useful at the collegiate level, returning kicks, punts and also running the ball.
With the addition of Polk, the Nittany Lions now have 9 verbal commitments for 2015. Of those nine, six of them have 4-star ratings. Polk joins 4-star wide receiver Juwan Johnson as the second receiver of the class.
