Believe it or not, the Penn State Nittany Lions will begin practicing in a few short weeks. The start of spring practice is set for St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, March 17th. After 15 practices, the spring practice season will end on April 12 with the annual Blue-White Game. Kickoff for the game will be at 1:30 p.m.
The Blue-White game has been a fan favorite for many years at Penn State. It’s the public’s first chance to get a look at some of the players who will be taking the field for the Nittany Lions in the upcoming season. Of course, it’s not the entire team, as most freshman won’t arrive until summer. Parking and admission are both free and seating is open all throughout Beaver Stadium.
The game has even more excitement this year as new head coach James Franklin has urged fans to fill this stadium in 2014, beginning with the Blue-White Game. Franklin has already gotten a lot of people excited about the prospects of Penn State football with the way he’s been able to recruit and his reputation for running a high-octane offense.
The Blue-White Game will give fans a chance to see Franklin’s team up-close and personal in a more informal setting than a regular season game. It’s also the first chance of the year for players to get onto the field in a simulated game situation.
Returning this year is the popular autograph session before the game. An official time for that has not yet been set.
VBR will be on campus for the start of spring practice on March 17 and will be covering the Blue-White game live.
