It’s just an hour into National Signing Day and it’s already been a busy day for the Nittany Lions. Yet another letter of intent has come through.
Though from the same state, and a similar name, running back Mark Allen has no relation to Penn State 2014 recruit Marcus Allen. One thing the two do have in common is the fact that they will both be heading to Happy Valley to play college football. The running back gave a verbal commitment to the Nittany Lions in October.
As expected, Allen made his college choice official today. Ryan Snyder of BWI reported the news.

Allen is a 3-star recruit according to 247 sports who will add future depth to the running back position. The Nittany Lions are currently stacked at the position, with Zach Zwinak, Bill Belton and Akeel Lynch all returning for the 2014 season, meaning a redshirt is probably in order for Allen.
The running back tore his ACL midway though his junior year in 2012, but was able to come back and land a scholarship from a big-time program. While not heavily recruited, Allen did receive offers from Wake Forest, Temple and Cincinnati.
