With less than a week now before National Signing Day, head coach James Franklin is in the final stages of completing the 2014 recruiting class. He and his coaching staff will continue to work hard in these final days to try to land one of the remaining targets. In today’s edition of VBR’s recruiting wish list, cornerback recruit Amani Oruwariye from Tampa, Florida is highlighted.
Oruwariye is a 3-star recruit according to Lions247.com and is another player who had previously committed to Coach Franklin at Vanderbilt. He committed to the Commodores in October, but pulled his commitment on January 15th and Penn State should now be considered a frontrunner to land the cornerback. So far, five recruits have flipped from Vanderbilt to Penn State.
The Nittany Lions offered Oruwariye on January 11th and took an official visit to Happy Valley this past weekend. Penn State also made a trip to Florida to see him.

Penn State could be in a battle with the Missouri Tigers, who made an offer to the 3-star recruit this week.
The secondary was a thin position on the depth chart this season, leading former head coach Bill O’Brien to convert former wide receivers Malik Golden and Trevor Williams to the defensive backfield. In the current 2014 class, the Nittany Lions have three defensive backs listed, as well as Koa Farmer, who could play either linebacker or safety.
Oruwariye would be an important addition for the Nittany Lions. He may not be needed right away, but could take time to develop and provide much-needed depth in the secondary in the upcoming years.
