It’s now been nearly two weeks since I took over as lead editor here at VBR. Hopefully, you readers have not even noticed the transition, as I hope it has been a smooth one. I wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself to all of you and let you know that our beloved VBR site is in good hands. Former lead editors Tim Tolley and Matt DeBear have done a great job and I hope to continue that and move us forward in the future.
Most of our loyal readers are already familiar with me, as I’ve been on here since June as a staff writer. I’ve already had the pleasure of reading and interacting this season with many people through our different comment sections.
As Matt mentioned in his farewell piece, I spent this football season covering the Nittany Lions for VBR live from both the press box and the field at Beaver Stadium. And yes, I even made the long drive to Columbus and had to sit through the trouncing at Ohio State. I got to witness the ups and downs of this past season in person and have many thoughts on what I saw. I will be sure to share those in various posts during this offseason.
Now, some boring information about my background. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and naturally attended Penn State as a student. I graduated in 2002 with a degree in Journalism, but of course, ended up entering a field completely different from my major. I have spent the past nine years as an elementary school teacher and started working as a freelance sports writer about two years ago.
I have some big plans for the site in the future and want to expand our coverage of Penn State athletics. Please feel free to contact me at any time with suggestions, story ideas, or to just tell me how much you disagree with me.
Thank you for being a part of the VBR community. I am very excited about the opportunity to grow and expand this already great Penn State website.
