Death, taxes and me going 4-2 in my weekly predictions. This time however, I got my upset special with Kansas State knocking of Oklahoma State. I also picked Oregon because I thought for once they would have a solution for Stanford.
This week features only 2 games with ranked teams squaring off. That being said, let’s make some picks!
Georgia (+4) at Auburn
Georgia as an underdog vs. Auburn seems like it would have been farfetched earlier in the year. Auburn has improved a ton since the season started and is looking to be the biggest challenge left for Alabama. Georgia is still a dangerous team, but this game on the road will just be too tough to pull out.
Auburn 28 Georgia 23
Oklahoma State (-3) at Texas
Texas was nearly pronounced dead a few weeks back and they have bounced back. The win vs. Oklahoma and a nice run has them in 1st place over Baylor at this point. Texas is banged up and face Oklahoma State is coming off a beat down of Kansas (basically a bye week). Texas will hang tough at home, but the combination of Okie State’s offense and loss of their linebacker Jordan Hicks will be too much for the Longhorns to overcome. Those looking to see Mack Brown gone will have some more ammo after he squashed that for a few weeks.
Oklahoma State 34 Texas 24
Michigan State (-7) at Nebraska
Michigan State is grossly underrated, but that doesn’t matter right now. Ohio State needs MSU to roll into that title game if they have any chance at leapfrogging a team. (PS: They need someone to lose and anything else will be a moot point.) Nebraska was near dead also but in the matter of 60:04 of football, they won on a Hail Mary then went into the Big House and pulled out a win. Pelini, much like Mack Brown has an army of people looking for him to be out as coach, but the winning has put them in an odd position. With a win, Nebraska could be in the position to head to the B1G title game, but with a loss, Tommie Frazier will tweet that they need a new coach. MSU’s D will be too much for Armstrong and Company.
Michigan State 26 Nebraska 15
Michigan (+3) at Northwestern
Neither of these teams are ranked, but that doesn’t make it any less intriguing. Northwestern has 0 conference wins and they are favored. Michigan has hit a rut in their season with the loss to mighty Penn State, Michigan State and Nebraska. Saying it kindly, Michigan has been pretty awful at rushing the ball of late. Northwestern could provide a cure for that ailment, but this will be a classic #B1G battle, and by classic I mean ugly.
Michigan 22 Northwestern 21
Stanford (-4) at USC
If Lane Kiffin were still USC’s coach, they would be underdogs by 21 points easy. USC is a different team after disposing of that waste and now pose a major threat to Stanford coming off that huge win at Oregon. The problem is for USC, these are smart kids vs. kids who decided it was in their best interest to play for Kiffin.
Stanford 30 USC 19
Miami (-3) at Duke
I always go back choosing Duke football to win (except for when they beat Virginia Tech). Miami coming off the ugly losses vs. Florida State and VT are an uninspired bunch right now. Pitt scored at will on this Duke team and Miami should do they same. They will, but they would need to score more.
Duke 38 Miami 35
Year to date record: 44-22 (2-9 Upset Special)
