Penn State, riding the crest of another nail-biting OT victory, takes to the road to battle the Minnesota Golden Gophers. These are not your daddy’s Gophers though. Minnesota is a surprising 7-2 (3-2) and making a strong push to win the Legend’s Division title. After this week against Penn State, the Gophers will square of against Wisconsin and finish the season against Division leader Michigan State. While a division title looks like a tall order for the upstart Gophers, their play since head coach Jerry Kill stepped away due to recurring health issues, has been impressive. Since Coach Kill took a leave of absence from his head coaching duties, Minnesota has gone 3-1. Penn State is going to have to be ready, especially with the 11 AM CT start.
Here what I see as Penn State’s keys to victory today in Minneapolis: Use the run to set up the pass, stack the box-force Minnesota to throw…yes throw the ball.
