Evil Bill O’Brien’s Weekly Pick Six To Go – Week 11

Once again, I went 4-2 last week, but again that is secondary to Tim Beckman remaining winless in the Big Ten since he started.  His coaching last week provided more humor than one of those old late night Lane Kiffin debacles (not really but really close).

This week, there are 2 games on Thursday that are better than the last few weeks total on Saturday.  Good Thursday night games mixed with a good Thursday night drink is quite possibly my favorite thing.

Oklahoma (+15) at Baylor

Imagine being in a coma for 10 years and waking up and seeing this point spread.  I am sure it would look weird, but you’d also have to wonder how the heck you were in a come for 10 years and why anyone would think that you would care about the point spread of an Oklahoma / Baylor game.  This is basically one of the biggest games in Baylor history (I am not well versed in Baylor football history or I’d say it was definitely the biggest).  Oklahoma showed some grit vs. Texas Tech, but the matchup here favors the home team.

Baylor 45 Oklahoma 31

Oregon (-10.5) at Stanford

Oregon faces their biggest test of the season.  Stanford is well coached and will give the Ducks all kinds of problems.  Bottom line is I want to see 4 or 5 undefeated teams this year so I am picking with my heart.

Oregon 38 Stanford 26

Notre Dame (-4.5) at Pitt

ABC will be televising this game up against the LSU Alabama game in an effort to get that old ND crowd to watch.  This is a big game for Pitt since it is winnable and they will have a full house and plenty of recruits on hand.  ND looked bad vs. Navy but so did Pitt.  I think Rees matches up good vs. the Pitt secondary, who may not be as bad as FSU made them look, but Pitt always seems to show up for this game.

Pitt 26 Notre Dame 24

Nebraska (+7) at Michigan

This game features a fan base that is ready for their coach to get fired and one who is slowly getting there.  I am not suggesting that Hoke should be on the hot seat, but Michigan’s fans are becoming an impatient bunch (like most teams).  Pelini may have not seen this week had it not been for the Hail Mary vs. Northwestern, but here he is in the Big House.  Michigan will be able to run Toussiant this week and a banged up Gardner will also have a big game.

Michigan 35 Nebraska 27

LSU (+13) at Alabama

Ohio State fans have been calling out the Alabama schedule as being weak and that changes Saturday.  Alabama wants to make a statement to ensure that FSU or Oregon can’t pass them in the polls.  Saban will offer no mercy to LSU.

Alabama 36 LSU 17

Upset Special

Kansas State (+3) at Texas Tech

K-State has had a pretty bland year but Texas Tech is coming off two rough games for an 11 o’clock local time start.  A slow start will doom them.

Kansas State 44 Texas Tech 41 (2 OT)

Year to date record:  40-20 (1-9 Upset Special)
