Ah, the weekly pick six is back. As you may recall, last year I had a perfect season. No need to go back and check, just trust me. I will be predicting games as wins / losses and 1 upset special. The upset special is usually a personal wish, but was very accurate last year. I will show what the line is, but I shun gambling so this is for recreational purposes or if you’re into that, its easy money.
Away we go to the 2013 season.
Alabama (-20) vs. Virginia Tech
Frank Beamer has made a career off of special teams and blocked punts for scores. Sadly, I am not sure VT will force Alabama to punt until the 2nd half when Saban calls of the dogs elephants. Nice game when scheduled a few years back, but this one won’t really be worth watching
Alabama 33 Virginia Tech 6
Georgia (-1.5) at Clemson
A week 1 game between 2 good programs actually on a college campus, what will they think of next? This should be one of the best games of the weekend. Clemson brings media darling QB T. Boyd vs. Georgia who were a good play call away from making it to the BCS title game. Mark Richt still has a stupid haircut which will cloud his thinking again late in the game. Clemson will prevail only to falter later in the year.
Clemson 22 Georgia 20
LSU (-4.5) vs. TCU
Ah yes, another neutral site game between 2 good programs. The announced the dome will be closed to ensure this looks nothing like a college football game. LSU has not announced if Jeremy Hill will play Saturday. I guess Les Miles will let the fans vote on that one? Regardless, LSU is the better team and the crowd may be pro TCU, but that won’t matter. Miles will magically learn how to manage the clock.. just kidding.
LSU 24 TCU 17
Boise State (+3.5) at Washington
About a year ago, Evil Bill was predicting Washington’s upset over the overrated USC. This year, the always tough Boise heads into one of the loudest stadiums in the country. Boise is ranked higher, but that means absolutely nothing here. At least Peterson will get some good fishing since he missed out on that in Centre County.
Washington 23 Boise State 21
Florida State (-10) at Pitt
Pitt gets the welcome to the ACC treatment with a home game vs. one of the best teams in the ACC. It’s a Monday Night home game at Heinz Field so all of the advantages Pitt could have are in place. Pitt had a similar game vs. VT last year and beat them up and down the field all day. That being said, they have had more guys transfer than PSU post sanctions and they have a QB in Tom Savage that has been on more teams than a professional Ty Detmer. Florida State will welcome Pitt in a very rude manner.
Florida State 38 Pitt 16
Texas Tech (-6) at SMU
Texas Tech brings a freshman vs. the Mustangs Friday night at SMU. Texas Tech brings their dreamy head coach who has the adoration of most media members. I wish June Jones would break out one of his old Hawaiian shirts for this magical night. SMU will finally start to recover from the death penalty. Not really, but they will for an evening.
SMU 33 Texas Tech 27
