When Warren, Michigan linebacker Jared Wangler decommitted from Penn State in the aftermath of his Michigan offer, the obvious question was “now what?”. The initial answer, it would appear, is 4-star OLB Brandon Lee out of Indianapolis.
Brandon, ranked the 26th best OLB prospect in the nation by 247, picked up an offer from Bill O’Brien and linebacker coach Ron Vanderlinden earlier today. He had recently cut his list to a top 5 of Louisville, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, Cal, and Oregon. At least among the 247 Crystal Ballers, the Cardinals appear to be the favorite.
While Louisville appears to be leading, the only official visit scheduled is to Cal at the end of August for their season opener, and all indications are that Lee intends to take all 5 official visits allowed by rule before coming to a decision. If PSU can get one of those visits (Michigan weekend, anyone?), you would think they have as good a chance as anyone.
The other side of this is of course the timing. With just 5 scholarships left to fill, and several major prospects still considering the Lions, PSU may have to take a “first come, first served” approach. That could mean more offers at linebacker coming. But Brandon Lee appears to be the top choice.
