Revisiting The Penn State Football Recruiting Class Of 2013-Garrett Sickels

We are almost there.  A mere 4 Saturdays without college football remain this summer, and fall camp is just around the corner.  I promise.  By the time that happens, it will have been roughly 6 months since the 2013 recruiting class signed on the dotted line and became Nittany Lions.  The majority of that group has only been on campus since late June when the second summer session began.  As we prep for the start of camp, it seems like a great opportunity to refresh our memory on this year’s freshman.  What better way to start than the first player to fax in his letter, New Jersey defensive end Garrett Sickels.

Garrett was a consensus 4-star prospect out of Little Silver, New Jersey, and of course became a core part of the freshman class.  Garrett had committed to Penn State prior to the sanctions announcement, and was instrumental in keeping the class together. You’ll forgive me for already envisioning him as a future Nittany Lion captain.

He’s hardly just a great personality and better kid though, although he is both of those.  Garrett played in the Under Armour All American game, and held over 20 scholarship offers, including some of the elite programs in the country (Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Ohio State, among others).  With the achilles injury suffered by Brad Bars last week, Sickels now has a great opportunity to contribute even more in his first season on campus.

Once again, welcome to Penn State, Garrett!
