Penn State vs. Michigan – October 18, 2008
It had been 12 seasons since the Lions had beat Michigan, including more than a couple heartbreakers under, shall we say, controversial circumstances. This was far from the Wolverine’s most powerful team, but they did race out to a 17-7 lead, and lead 17-14 at halftime. However, as the sun set on the homecoming crowd, the PSU offense found its groove, and the defense figured out Rich Rod’s spread offense. By the time it was done, the Lions had rattled off 39 unanswered points for a 46-17 win. The Lions have have of course beaten better teams in bigger games, but on that night, they finally vanquished a 12 year old demon.
