Virginia WR DaeSean Hamilton is the latest Penn State to officially join the fold, as his signed letter of intent has been faxed in. Hamilton committed to the Lions in early December, following the big official visit weekend that saw 3 other visitors join the class (although Jonathan Walton eventually decommitted). He is a 3-star receiver on 247, and the 14th best player out of talent rich Virginia. DaeSean held numerous offers, but chose PSU primarily over Illinois, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Michigan State.
With pressing needs elsewhere on the roster, and limited scholarships, wide receiver was not a focus of the class, and the staff was picky in who they targeted. DaeSean was definitely a top choice, and his commitment in December was seen as a major victory on the recruiting trail.
The wide receiver depth chart is full of returning talent, with the likes of Allen Robinson and Brandon Moseby-Felder returning, and 2012 prized recruit Eugene Lewis entering the fold after redshirting last season. Alex Kenney and Trevor Williams will provide solid depth, making a redshirt the likely path for DaeSean. A year with Fitz, not to mention learning the college game from a guy like Robinson will only pay dividends down the road.
