Penn State Class Of 2013 – OL Tanner Hartman

The fax machine inside the Lasch Football Building has been getting a workout this morning, and Tanner Hartman, a 3-star line prospect from Lynchburg, VA, became the latest to send in his Letter of Intent.  Tanner had offers from Maryland and Temple.  247 ranked him as an OL/DL prospect, but it is thought he will likely end up on the offensive line for the Nittany Lions. Tanner was high on Penn State throughout the summer, but committed to Maryland after not getting the offer he wanted from the Lions.  Following the decommitment of Dorian Johnson, PSU wasted little time in offering Hartman, and he quickly accepted.

Tanner is listed at 6’4″, 255 lbs., but will likely be adding some weight quickly if he ends up on the offensive line as expected.  I can hear Coach Fitz licking his chops already.  With that in mind, it would be a shock to see Tanner play this season, as a redshirt year seems to be a lock. Down the road, my instinct says you can expect to see Hartman lining up at tackle, with his athleticism.  The key will be retaining that quickness as he adds weight to play on the offensive side of the ball.
