Penn State - Nebraska: 1st Half Observations Behind the Box Score

Here’s a quick look at what I’m noticing midway through the Nittany Lions-Cornhuskers match.

PSU 20

The blocking on Zach Zwinak’a TD run was perfect. He’s not a burner but DBs are never going to drag him down with arm tackles.

However, the fumble was brutal.

Early on, PSU’a defensive line is getting great penetration. That’s a big key to disrupting Martinez.

The D must do a better job of getting off the field on 3rd down.  Taylor Martinez has converted at least two 3rd downs of 10 or more yards.

Nebraska was being effective with runs outside but they’ve either gone away from them or Penn State has adjusted.

McGloin looks solid thus far.

I think a lot of Nebraska fans assumed Michigan State was the best D  they’d face this year. May be some surprised fans in Lincoln.
