Penn State Lands Running Back Commitment in the Form of Richy Anderson Jr.

As was previously stated, the Ohio State game was a big one, in terms of recruiting, for the Penn State Nittany Lions. The atmosphere alone was enough to influence kids, regardless of the final score.

One kid who didn’t need influenced was Richy Anderson Jr, Maryland running back and son of former Penn State running back, Richie Anderson. Yes, the spelling is different…that’s how they roll. Richy had since stated that he’d only wanted to play at Penn State his whole life, yet had committed to Maryland in June because he did not feel confident that a Penn State scholarship offer was coming.

However, later in the summer, that Penn State offer did come. And on Sunday, following his visit to Penn State for the Whiteout, the younger Anderson decommitted from Mayland and gave his pledge to the Penn State coaching staff. Anderson becomes the 2nd player to decommit from Maryland for Penn State, joining OL Tanner Hartman.

Though a bit under-sized, Anderson is a good all-around back. This offer wasn’t received simply because he’s a legacy, which is evident from his offer sheet.
