After a failed attempt at sarcasm last week…here we are again with a new loathsome opponent, the awful Cavaliers of Virginia…
Another week, another terrible nickname.
For the 95% of people who don’t know, the “Cavaliers” were staunch supporters of the English throne, equating to what is now essentially treason. Also, they dress like pirates, which is shameful and unfashionable, especially 150 miles away from the ocean.
Virginia QB Michael Rocco is selfish.
Michael Rocco’s father and uncle both played at Penn State. Virginia’s starting quarterback wanted to play at Penn State. He camped at Penn State. He was even offered a spot as a preferred walk-on, as Penn State was full at QB in that class (Paul Jones, Rob Bolden). But noooooo, Michael wanted to attend school for free. He wanted to be a “scholarship athlete.” He snubbed Penn State’s walk-on offer and attended Virginia, where he threw for 2,671 in 2011 while Jones and Bolden did…not. Traitor.

No need to elaborate here.
UVA has a desperate obsession with Cleveland sports.
Not only did Virginia steal their nickname from the basketball swashbucklers of Lake Erie, they also call themselves the (Chief) Wahoos and wear orange uniforms. Give Cleveland their identity back!
Revenge
You think you can just beat Penn State on a Thursday in December and get away with it? When Matt Schaub torched the Penn State defense for 75 yards in 2001, you knew this day would come.
Unethical recruiting tactics.
No fewer than five of the current players committed to Virginia’s 2013 class held offers from Penn State, including one time PSU commit, Zach Bradshaw. Virginia shows a lack of courtesy by recruiting players who hold Penn State offers and they aren’t above blatantly stealing.
Less than Tech
Much like Pitt is to Pennsylvania, UVA is the little brother when it comes to football in Virginia. If comparing a team to Pitt doesn’t get your hating juices flowing, I don’t know what will.
