When it comes to running back recruits, Penn State has it narrowed down to Philadelphia standout David Williams and…well that’s it.
Over the last couple months, Williams has admitted that he’s very high on Penn State but has also remained adamant about taking his time and visiting some schools officially this fall. He revealed an unofficial top 6 to me in May, then followed that with a top 5 list just weeks later. After taking some unofficial visits down south, Williams recently revealed a top 10 list, leaving Nittany Lions fans confused about where they stand in the recruitment of Pennsylvania’s top running back.
A source has now indicated to me that David has it narrowed down to three schools and that Penn State is in good shape. Apparently, the most likely destinations for Williams at this point are South Carolina, Wisconsin and Penn State.
One advantage for Penn State may be the relationships that David has formed with Christian Hackenberg and Adam Breneman as well as the friendship that he and WR commit/Philly native Will Fuller have.
Despite this news, I don’t expect a decision out of David until the season begins. However, it’s always good to know where you stand. Plus, it appears that O’Brien and the staff are pretty confident in their chances.
