Gerald arrived at Penn State as a 210 pound, four star safety from New Jersey. Since then, he has transformed himself into a 238 pound, All Big Ten player and All-American candidate at linebacker.

After battling injuries in 2010, Hodges emerged last season when running mate Michael Mauti went down with an injury. In a two week span, Hodges had 33 total tackles and earned back to back Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors. He ended his junior campaign with 106 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss along with 4.5 sacks, giving the Nittany Lions their best edge rushing effort.

If this list gets re-written in six months, Hodges may have moved up.
