Wyomissing, PA linebacker Alex Anzalone has been informed that he will be announcing his commitment decision tomorrow at The Opening, from Nike Headquarters in Oregon. Alex has narrowed down his choices to Notre Dame, Florida and Penn State and will be committing to one of those schools.
Alex’s last unofficial visit was to Penn State; a trip that ended with a dinner involving the Anzalone, Hackenberg and Breneman families. Despite that, Alex is very friendly with some Notre Dame commits on Twitter and is rooming with one (Devin Butler) this weekend.
For a last look at Anzalone before his commitment, tune into ESPNU tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern to see his 7 on 7 team compete at The Opening.
Whichever school lands the four star Army All-American will be getting a fine student-athlete. Alex’s recruitment has been heavily effected by academic situations and environments throughout the process. He gave heavy consideration to Stanford and has applied to honors colleges at each of the schools that he seriously considered. He was also offered early admission by USC and Florida, meaning that if he had graduated a year early, they were willing to accept him on campus this summer to participate in the 2012 season. Alex was academically eligible to do this, but chose not to.
I have had many entertaining conversations with Alex and I will personally be a fan no matter where he plays his college ball.
Good luck, Alex.
UPDATE: Alex has committed to Notre Dame
