Wyomissing, PA linebacker Alex Anzalone was on campus last week for a visit and a meeting with academic advisers. On Sunday, he announced that he has made his decision and will be declaring on either July 7th or 8th at The Opening, a camp including the nation’s elite high school recruits.
In April, Alex committed to Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes, only to rescind that commitment a couple weeks later as news came out of a creepy fan lingering around and taking pictures with recruits. He said that there were several reasons for his de-commitment, including a hasty “emotional” decision in the first place and insisted that the Buckeyes were still in the running.
On Sunday, they officially became eliminated.
Alex has over 30 offers from ALL over the country and was heavily recruited by Alabama, USC, Stanford, Florida and others. Several schools were even willing to take the All-American as a running back just to get his talent on campus. On top of that, Florida and USC asked Anzalone to graduate early from high school, enroll in college and join their 2012 classes. He has now weeded through those offers and will be choosing between just three schools.
