Weekly Penn State Recruiting Update 4/10

In case you live under a rock that lives under a building, Greg Webb committed to Penn State on Friday. Webb is a four star recruit by all accounts and is the 6th best DT in the country, according to Rivals. He intends to play in the Army All-American Game following his senior season.

Visiting this weekend will be All-American LB Alex Anzalone as well as OL Dorian Johnson and DT Maurice Roy Hurst Jr. Maurice says that the staff isn’t sure whether they will take a 2nd DT in this class, but still want him to visit. He grew up as a Penn State fan and recently received an Ohio State offer.

In a bit of a strange situation, Mike Farrell of Rivals is reporting that OSU has removed Robert Foster from their board, pulling his offer. Rob denied this on Twitter, claiming he has a visit planned in the Fall, but Farrell has held his ground. I have my own theory about happened, but it’s pure speculation.

Maryland Ath/DB Milan Collins visited last week and said everything went great. He plans on camping this summer at Penn State in an attempt to earn an offer. Milan plays primarily QB in high school and many coaches just want to see him operate as a DB a bit more before offering.

Another player planning to camp at PSU for the coaches is DT Tyler Haddock, who says his coach is in contact with Coach Larry Johnson. He will likely run into the same problem as Hurst, but time will tell.

Last week, DE DaJaun Drennon visited, then named Penn State his top school, only to be told that they were full at  the position for this class. I have a feeling this may not be over, but that’s just a hunch.

The list of visitors coming to the PSU Spring game seems to be growing by the day. I learned last night that NY Ath/WR  Luis Uceta will be making the trip. He doesn’t yet hold an offer, but says he is willing to work (camp) for it.

One player who won’t be making the trip is DC cornerback Devin Butler, who committed to Notre Dame last week.

Another player off the table is Florida LB Ryne Rankin, who committed to UGA over the weekend. Ryne visited a couple weeks ago and came away impressed, with an offer, even talking about returning in the fall for an official visit. A few days later, Georgia offered and it was all but over.

I stumbled onto this and thought I’d pass is along. For recruits visiting OSUs spring game, check here: http://ohiostaterecruiting.blogspot.com/#!/2012/04/spring-game-visitors-april-21st.html
