News got out sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning that Penn State commit CB Ross Douglas received a scholarship offer from the University of Michigan. It was reported before Ross’ commitment that he was high on UM but didn’t hold an offer.
When I asked Ross about the offer, he told me that he had actually received it “a while ago” but never reported it.
The next question I asked came naturally and I later apologized for it. When I thought back on the conversation, I feared that I had unintentionally crossed a line and questioned Ross’ word. As a follower of Penn State football, I am apparently not immune to the hangover from the fallout that happened involving the 2012 class.
“Will this have any effect on your commitment going forward?”
“Actually, Michigan offered me the day that I committed (to PSU), so I already chose Penn State over them. That’s a done deal.”
Consider that noted, Mr. Douglas. It won’t happen again.
Ross was also offered by Wisconsin but I’m pretty sure I already know his answer concerning the Badgers, as well. Nothing to see here.
