Penn State sent seven seniors to the NFL combine last month where they ran, jumped and lifted to impress scouts in hopes of catching an eye and getting their names called in the upcoming NFL Draft. Wednesday in Holuba Hall, those players plus others not invited to the combine worked out for scouts at the Penn State Pro Day.
Below are highlights of the day. Keep in mind, the 40 times ran at previous PSU pro days are notoriously faster than the combine times.
WR Derek Moye weighed in at 209 lbs. and ran an impressive 4.41 40 yard dash.
RB Stephfon Greene put up 17 bench-press reps of 225 pounds, posted a 33-inch vertical and a 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump.
DT Devon Still cracked the 5 second mark (4.95) on his 40 yard dash.
DB Chaz Powell ran his 40 yard dash “right around the 4.4 mark.”
LB Nate Stupar ran a 4.55 second 40 yard dash, down from 4.78 at the NFL combine.
Some former players were on-hand to work out for pro scouts, most notably All Big Ten QB Daryll Clark.
He later tweeted: “That was my last proday and it went very well…Took my best step forward and hopefully some team will take notice.. But yep…My last push.”
He has mentioned that he wants to be involved in football in some capacity, whether it’s playing, coaching or in the media. We’ll keep an eye on how things progress over the next 3-4 months with DC.
Quoteworthy: “We’re going to have a good relationship with the National Football League. They’ve got a job to do and we’ve got a job to do and both of us can work together on those jobs.” ~Bill O’Brien
Word also came out on Wednesday that WR/ Wildcat QB Bill Belton would be moving to RB this Spring.
Also at Pro Day, BILL O’Brien acknowledged DANNY O’Brien and the transfer rumors, saying
“Danny does have an interest. I’d say we’re one of many schools that he’s looking at. If I can do anything to improve the football team within the rules, whether that’s a recruiting idea or a scheme or transfer, then I’m definitely gonna look into it.”
Danny’s high school coach has said that he expects his former player to make his decision by mid-April and that Danny is “looking for a pro-style offense and coaches that make him feel comfortable.”
