Penn State Recruiting Notes

Penn State added a CB, 2 WRs and this RB over the weekend.

This was a big weekend for Penn State recruiting. By my count, Penn State hosted six recruits over the weekend, and four of them have committed to play football at Penn State in the fall.
As I reported yesterday, WR Johnathan Warner was close to committing before his plane landed in Happy Valley, and he pulled the trigger on Sunday Morning.
Shortly after, 247 Sports reported that two Md teammates, CB Da’Quan Davis and WR Trevor Williams, had also jumped ship on the Mountaineers and pledged to play with Penn State.
Ryan Snyder of BWI then announced that 4 star RB Akeel Lynch had also committed to Penn State. This is a pretty big deal, as the depth chart behind Silas Redd was pretty bare.
Later in the evening, Snyder also found out that CB Canell Boyd from GA would be visiting next weekend along with DE Evan Schwan, per Bob Lichtenfels. Schwan was visited in-home by coach Larry Johnson on Sunday night, following his visit to UConn.
It’s quite possible that the last two visitors, OG Wendy Laurent and QB Steven Bench, will commit later this week.
It wasn’t all good news yesterday though, as it was reported late last night that CB Armani Reeves has decommitted and will now choose between OSU and UM. My guess is he follows best friend Cam Williams to Columbus.

Here is the revised Penn State 2012 class:

The big news over the weekend was, of course, the passing of legendary coach Joe Paterno. I haven’t yet found the words to write for Joe, but I promise I soon will. Joe meant so much to so many people.

Rest in Peace, Dear Coach.
