After the players met with new head coach Bill O’Brien, word got out that coach Bil Kenney, who coaches offensive tackles and tight ends, would not be retained.
This is most important because of his current recruiting duties. Kenney was the lead recruiter for standout commits 4 star LB Camren Williams and 4 star CB Armani Reeves. Their friend and future teammate, Jake Kiley broke the news about Kenney on Twitter, voicing his displeasure but later reaffirmed his commitment to PSU.
Reeves and Williams were quiet…and busy.
These two are largely thought to be a package deal but recently they began exploring options. Cam took an official visit to OSU and Armani hosted coaches from Michigan. To my knowledge, Armani was not being recruited by OSU, so in order for the close friends to remain teammates, Penn State was their only option.
Last night, Reeves took a phone call from Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. The potential combination of teaming up together in Columbus combined with the loss of Bill Kenney could prove troublesome for Penn State.
Both players, along with several other current commits, are scheduled to take their official visits this weekend. That will be their 1st opportunity to meet new head coach Bill O’Brien and re-commit, if you will.
My hit feeling us that if these two both take their schedules official visits this weekend, they remain Penn Staters. But anytime Urban Meyer is involved, it’s worth keeping an eye on.
