Welcome back! After taking almost two months off, I should be writing again on a consistent schedule.
First, Penn State 2012 Recruiting in one word? Better. As in, better than 2011. 2011 was, for the most part, a frustrating year. Turned out pretty decent, but still wasn’t all that pretty. 2012 is looking much better. PSU is sending out plenty of offers, many recruits have PSU high already, and this year is much stronger around our area. All key points in why PSU is doing better.

I’ll have my in depth take on each position in the next few days. How many offers they have, highly rated they are, where PSU stands, etc.
Here are the recruits who are visiting this weekend:
Brent Wilkerson, Michael Moore, J.J. Denman, Jevon Tyree, Chris Muller, Nyeem Wartman, Armani Reeves, Camren Williams, Canaan Severin, Eugene Lewis, Ken Ekanem, Drew Harris, J.P. Holtz, William Mahone, Nick Tompkins, Zach Jackson, Julian Pinnix-Odrick.
If a gun was to my head, and I had to pick one who may commit this weekend it would be Camren Williams (6’2 210 LB). He wants to finish up his recruitment soon, and is already down to PSU, Maryland, Michigan, UNC, and another team that slips my mind. According to some PSU recruitniks, PSU could be the leader here. Which also helps with Armani Reeves because the two will almost assuredly end up going to the same college. They’ll actually be coming Thursday to Saturday, and will be staying with Fortt and Silas Redd in the dorms. Nothing but positives, hopefully. But before I get ahead of myself, I’m not saying he commits this weekend, but if someone does…it’s probably Williams.
As far as PSU commitments for the 2012 class, they do have one. Anthony Stanko, who committed last weekend while on his visit. 6’5 290 OG from Ohio. No PSU offer, but does have offers from West Virginia, Stanford, and Northwestern. No OSU offer, and he has said that he grew up an OSU fan. But ever since the PSU/Michigan game he visited, PSU has been his favorite team. He said (paraphrasing)…”I grew up an OSU fan, and it was great, but I truly think I found something better”.
I’ll have an official review on Stanko later, but really quickly, here is what Stanko brings: he’s tough, physical, and plays with a mean streak. What he lacks in athleticism, he makes up with how hard he works in the weight room and the anger he plays with on the field. Outstanding student as well.
Like I said, check back the next few days for breakdowns of each position that we are recruiting. I’m excited for this recruiting year, and you should be too. Looks like it could end up being a very good class.
