Ishaq Williams – I’ve completely shifted on my confidence with Ishaq. I think he will end up attending Notre Dame. He visited South Bend over the weekend, and apparently, the visit was excellent. After the Notre Dame visit, he said he was going to visit Penn State. But when he got back from Notre Dame, he decided to wait on the Penn State visit. Now, it looks highly unlikely he visits Penn State. As recruits can not officially visit schools when the students aren’t on campus. Instead, three Penn State coaches visited the Williams’ residence (LJ SR, Buggs, and Kenney) last night. He states that he is still open, and that he hasn’t made his choice. Although, many are worried Notre Dame is the choice…or will be the choice. He’ll be deciding at the Army High School All-American Game, and then going straight to the campus of his choice, as he is an early enrollee. Penn State still has a shot, but not feeling good on this one.
Nick Stoner – In case you don’t follow me on twitter (twitter.com/itspatrickh), Nick Stoner has decided to stay with Indiana. He likes what Kevin Wilson (New coach) is going to potentially build at Indiana. He wants to help make Indiana a good football program. Unfortunate, but this opens up chances with…
Kyshoen Jarrett – Kyshoen Jarrett, Pitt commit, said that Penn State has contacted his coach so interest is there. The talk with other PSU Recruitniks, is that if Penn State wants Jarrett, they should be able to get him. Of course, that was the talk back in June when PSU offered Jarrett so who knows for sure?
Bill Belton – One of the Pitt guys I mentioned last week, looks like a real possibility. Penn State has contacted him, and will be visiting his school in the near future to talk with him. In my opinion, Belton has the chance to be a game changer in college. I really like him at Slot WR. But before we start thinking too much about Penn State…we need a visit. Wait and see.
Andre Sturdivant – Well…Andre did not make the visit this weekend. Reason? Jay Paterno. Sturdivant said that he wasn’t able to get in touch with Jay Paterno to set up the visit, so no visit this weekend. He said he’ll make his visit in January. To Jay Pa’s credit, Sturdivant says that he has a great relationship with Jay. Congrats Jay! Cardale Jones will probably be making the visit with Sturdivant too. Aundrey Walker is still a huge question mark, and I doubt he visits.
Albert Louis-Jean – In case you missed it, Miami hired a coach this week. None other than Al Golden (Penn State guy coaching at the U?). Anyway, ALJ is still up in the air on his decision, and not quite sure of Golden and Miami yet. He has, reportedly, told Golden that he may visit Miami this weekend to meet with Al Golden and to see if Miami is the place for him. Now, this is extremely crucial…if Albert can not set up a visit before this weekend, he won’t be able to visit Miami. After this weekend, it starts the dead period, and like I said before; recruits can’t officially visit a school when the kids are off campus. Since Albert is an early enrollee, he won’t be able to visit Miami when the kids get back on campus because by that time, he wouldn’t be able to be an early enrollee. Bottom line…if he visits Miami this weekend, then it’s 50/50 Miami/PSU. If no visit to Miami…things look excellent for Penn State. Only other school he has visited is Boston College so they would be the only other school that could potentially get him. Stay tuned.
As most of you know, there is major talk of Joe Pa retiring. Of course, we have heard this before, but this is starting to become very serious…according to some “insiders”. That would dramatically impact this class, for good or for worst. Not to mention, Ron Vanderlinden is looking at the Ball State job. Bradley is “allegedly” looking at the Pitt job. So this class could get shaken up, and many of this recruiting news could be for a loss. Maybe that is why my stance on some of the recruits has changed? Not sure, but I just feel something is going to happen that will shake this up (Like a new head coach?). So right now, I’m just sitting back, not worrying about this class too much and waiting to see what happens with Joe Pa and Penn State come early January. Then we will get some definite answers, and not just speculation.
