Really, not too much again this week, and like I’ve been saying, their won’t be much until the Michigan game. I know I said I’ll get out a review for 2012, but with PSU “uncertainties” in the coaching staff past this season, tough to write about them right now. I’ll get to it eventually, but, albeit, not this week.
Allan Wasonga [RB from WV} has been offered by Tennessee. He said Tennessee and Penn State are tied, and he'll visit both, and then make his decision. Bottom lime, Penn State could have had him locked up right now, but they slow played him. Now, RB isn't a huge need this class, but it would have been nice to get someone. We had two 4-Star RBs [Mason and Wasonga] that we sat very good with, and now we may not get both. Hate to speculate too much, so I won’t. Still, I think Wasonga ends up at Penn State.
Chris Muller [6'6 290 OT from PA] has said he also wants to try to get to the Michigan game. Good looking recruit, looks athletic too. He said his favorite teams as a kid are Penn State and Notre Dame. Penn State has a pretty good shot here, just have to maintain contact.
Another MLB to watch out for, Quanzell Lambert [6'3 235 MLB from NJ]. He visited for Illinois, and he said he had a lot of fun. He, like most recruits, understands why PSU is struggling…injuries and young players. Not everyone follows College Football religiously, some of those “everyone” are recruits. They see Clark, Sean Lee, Jared Odrick, Bowman all gone, and they can understand why we are strugglin’. More on that later, but anyway, he loves that we are “Linebacker U”. He also mentioned he liked Miami growing up, but Penn State is right there with them. Still early of course, and a lot can change, but PSU sitting good here too.
Finally, we have Devin Fuller [ATH from NJ]. Very athletic, slot WR type player…PSU is after quite a few of those players. Anyway, he visited as well. He said he was “shocked” to see them lose, but they have talent. He likes Oregon, Penn State, and Rutgers right now. Guy to keep a look out for, for the next few months.
That’s pretty much it. Minor news? Sure…still news though. My thoughts on the Illinois Game…can’t really say. MY thoughts on Joe Pa and the coaching staff…can’t really say. I’m going to give it a few weeks, see what they can do, and then give “final verdict’ so to speak on if “Joe must go”. But right now, just trying to take it slow, and give them a chance. Maybe Illinois wins 8-9 games this year? Who knows. Maybe PSU bounces back, and wins the rest of their schedule. Likely? No…but still a chance. Maybe PSU doesn’t win another game, and Joe is gone (and their are some LOUD rumblings out there).
Bottom line is, we don’t know.
