Sorry for being late with this guys. Busy week as school just started, and getting acclimated again. But without further (French word which I don’t know how to spell), here is Penn State Recruiting 9/1/10
-Tre Mason [RB from Florida] says he wants to make an earlier decision, probably sometime during the season. Right now, Penn State, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss are his Top Three. Penn State, obviously, is still looking good on this one.
-Anthony Wallace [LB from Texas] has gotten an offer from Penn State. Big time kid from a big time school. A few months ago, he mentioned in an interview he wanted to hear from Penn State, but nothing transpired until now. There is mutual interest, but not sure how much. Ohio State offered recently, and bolted into his Top 3 so we’ll see what happens. More to come on him next week when we have some answers.
-Quinten Pompey [DT from Florida] has gotten an offer from Penn State as well. He plays for Manatee, which just played on ESPN against Plant on Friday Night. His profile on Rivals says 6’3 250. Penn State is his first offer, but reports are his grades were really bad the last few years, and his attitude off the field wasn’t great either. Supposedly, things are better now. As his coaches are saying his attitude has been very good, and that his grades should pick up. Another recruit who I’m not totally sure on, as the offer was just sent out. More coming next week as well.
Those aren’t mistypes either…Florida and Texas. Why we are going in there? Who knows, but hopefully it leads to more PSU recruiting in those states.
-I’ve been saying on twitter how there are some HUGE~! OTs for next years class. All 6’7 ranging from 275 to 325. Believe three from PA, and one from MD. More to come on those four later, but another huge OT is out, he is from NJ. Sean Henigin standing 6’7 while weighing 335. This is a JR in HIGH SCHOOL! Most OTs usually have to gain 20-30 pounds, he’ll probably have to lose 15-20 pounds, as Joe Pa isn’t a fan of players over 315 or so. Not sure if some of that is unnecessary weight, but either way, he is huge. Went to the Penn State Football Camp, and really impressed. He loves Penn State…in the case where once he gets his offer, he’ll commit on the spot. I expect he’ll more than likely get his offer in February or March along with most of the 2012 recruits.
-Donovan Smith [OT from MD] plans to visit for the YSU Game as an unofficial, probably making his official for the PSU/UM Game. Usually when recruits make multiple visits to games, that is very good. Hopefully Penn State can land Smith, looks like a very athletic OT that could be really good with some added weight.
-Allan Wasonga [RB from WV] wants to make a visit to Penn State before making a decision. From what everyone is saying, he’ll probably committing in person. Not sure when that visit will be (Probably YSU or Kent State), but Penn State is still the school where he’ll end up going. Just a matter of when he wants to announce it.
I’ll be doing this every week, giving my prediction and thoughts on the upcoming Penn State game.
First, very excited to see Bolden as the starter. I’ve been a huge fan of his since he committed so very happy to see him start. Hopefully, a successful 4 years, but he still has this season. We’ll see what happens.
Now trying to be brief…
-I want Royster to see 10-12 carries, keeping him fresh for Alabama. I also want to see Dukes and Redd get 8=12 carries, mostly Dukes as Penn State could use a power back.
-Hope to see some good OLine play, especially on the left side with Barham and Pannell/Troutman.
-Hopefully, Gilliam shows good blocking skills, as Sc (who is a great blocker) realistically won’t be around for the Alabama game if his back keeps on having problems. More on the O-LIne for Bama though.
-I think Devon Still has a huge game, as does Crawford. D-Line as a whole will be very good.
Score Prediction? 50-3 with a win for Penn State.
Thanks for reading. Check back next week.
