Penn State Scrimmage Quick Hits

Around 3:30 today Penn State scrimmaged inside of Beaver Stadium for roughly 70 plays. The scrimmage was closed to the public but thanks to Lions247 we were able to pick up some bullet points for you to mull over. Consider this a late night treat.

  • True freshman offensive lineman Thomas Ricketts broke his hand at practice on Saturday. No word on how much time he’ll miss, but he was headed for a redshirt this season regardless.
  • True freshman running back Silas Redd also found the end zone from about 25 yards out on a draw play. I’m told Redd has had a fantastic camp thus far.
  • The biggest play of the scrimmage came at the end, with the first team defense taking on the first team offense. True freshman quarterback Robert Bolden hit redshirt freshman Shawney Kersey in stride for about a 50-yard score.

Jay Paterno said he wants to move from four to three this weekend, then cut the number to two in another week. The Lions hope to name a starter, as they did two years ago with Clark, a week before the season opener against Youngstown State.

Take that all for what you will. Sleep on it, and check back tomorrow for a much more in depth reaction. Follow @Ben_Jones88  and VBR for more info.
